Pharos Overwatch · Farms

Farm security that is already overhead.

Stock, diesel and equipment go missing on the nights nobody is near. A Pharos station lives on the farm, patrols your camps and boundary on thermal, and is over any alarm in under two minutes, flown by a licensed pilot.

The problem

Your farm is too big to watch from the ground.

A farm is kilometres of fence, a few people and long distances between everything. By the time anyone drives out, the cut fence is just a cut fence and the stock is gone. Beams and cameras tell you something happened. They cannot tell you what, or where it went next.

  • Stock theft from outlying camps at night
  • Fences cut and gates left open
  • Diesel, solar panels and equipment taken from sheds and pump houses
  • Response vehicles sent out on alarms that turn out to be nothing

What we offer

What the station does for you.

01Night patrols over camps and boundary

The aircraft flies your camps, fence lines and yard on a pattern nobody can time. It reads heat, so a person or a vehicle in the dark stands out long before a torch would find them.

02Alarm verification

A fence alarm, beam or gate sensor trips and the aircraft goes up. The pilot tells you what is really there, so you only roll a vehicle when it counts.

03Rapid dispatch from the farmhouse

Airborne in under 60 seconds on a panic button or a call, overhead in under two minutes. The pilot talks your response onto the exact spot.

04Evidence for SAPS and your insurer

Every flight is recorded and sealed, with a chain of custody behind it. The incident report follows every incident.

An example night

A night on a Pharos farm.

How one station works through a night on a mixed farm. The times are an example; the pattern is yours.

  1. 19:30First patrolThe aircraft leaves the station and flies the yard, the sheds and the pump houses on thermal, then the camps nearest the boundary.
  2. 23:10A fence alarm on the far campThe zone trips and the aircraft is airborne in under 60 seconds. The pilot finds two people at the fence line and a bakkie waiting on the road.
  3. 23:12Your response talked inOverhead in under two minutes. The pilot follows the people on thermal and talks your vehicle onto their position, and the whole incident is recorded and sealed.
  4. 03:40The quiet hoursA patrol on a new pattern. Nothing moves but the stock. The aircraft lands, charges and waits for the next trigger.

What we watch for

The ground a farm loses at night.

Every farm is different. These are the places we plan around in the site assessment.

01Outlying camps

Stock is taken from the camps furthest from the house. Patrols dwell there, and a moving heat signature among the animals stands out at once.

02Roads and gates

Most theft needs a vehicle. Gates, farm roads and the public road along the boundary are flown on every patrol.

03Sheds, pumps and diesel

Diesel tanks, solar pumps and workshops are checked on every pass, so a light left off or a door left open is seen.

04Fence lines

By day the same flights show cut or sagging fences, so the repair happens before the stock finds the gap.

How we do it

How it works on your ground.

  1. 01A station on the farmWe place the station where it covers the ground that matters most: camps, the yard, the boundary you worry about.
  2. 02Patrols through the hours you chooseScheduled flights through the night, on a pattern that changes, so it cannot be learned from the fence.
  3. 03Every trigger answered from the airYour alarms launch the aircraft. A licensed pilot in our operations room flies it and makes every call that matters.
  4. 04Home to chargeThe aircraft lands back in the station and charges for the next trigger the same night.

Built by Pharos

Our own software, working for you.

The aircraft and station are DJI hardware. What makes them one service is software we wrote ourselves. Here is what it does for you on this kind of site.

Pharos softwareYour alarm launches the aircraft

Our own link between the station and the alarm panels, beams and electric fences you already run. When a zone trips, the aircraft goes up on its own. Nobody has to pick up a phone first.

Pharos softwareEvidence that holds up

Our evidence chain seals every clip and every flight log the moment it is captured, with the pilot, station, time and position attached. If anything were changed afterwards, it would show.

Pharos softwareStraight into your control room

Our bridge puts the live feed and the incident into the monitoring software your control room already uses. Your operators stay on their own screens and do not learn a new system.

What you get

What lands with you.

  • A live feed to you or your control room during every incident
  • A sealed evidence pack with flight ID, times, pilot and position
  • An incident report after every incident
  • By day, the same station can check fences, dams, roofs and fire lines on the same bill

Questions

Farms, answered.

Can one station cover a whole farm?

It covers the area within the aircraft's reach from the station. The free site assessment maps exactly what one station covers on your ground and whether you need more.

Does it work when the power is off?

Yes. The station keeps charging and flying through load shedding, and on farms with no grid we run it on solar or a generator.

Will it spook my livestock?

The patrols fly at height on thermal. We plan the pattern around your camps during the site assessment.

Who watches the flights?

A licensed pilot in our 24/7 operations room, on every flight, by name in the log.

Can it count my stock too?

Yes. The same station can count camps on thermal. See wildlife and livestock counts.
